Eve Grzybowski Eve has been teaching yoga for over 25 years and practicing since 1971. She originally learned yoga in Sydney from the legendary Martyn Jackson, one of B.K.S. Iyengar’s first Western students. Eve holds a Diploma of Health (Yoga) from Nature Care College in Sydney. Since 2000, she has been involved with training yoga teachers at the College. Eve conducts her classes with a light hand but her students report that they work very hard within an atmosphere where one’s best effort is encouraged. This is not to attain the text-book perfect pose, but rather for students to gain greater awareness by inquiring into how they can evolve a pose for themselves. Her classes, thus, provide an opportunity to explore the dance between will power, which wants to grapple with a pose, and freedom, which allows the body to open into accepting a pose. Attention to the physical work of poses is important because it fosters an unfolding of awareness that leads to changes in body, mind, and spirit. Eve’s purpose in teaching and practicing yoga is to have this awareness become a moment-to-moment experience of connecting to the world around us and in us. |
